Let’s start with what you receive in the package.

In this kit you have everything you need to automate your gate. The advantage is that battery backup is provided. Which is rarely the case.

Installation of automation

In the package, you will find the assembly instructions. If you are more comfortable with videos, the brand has a YouTube channel to help you with editing.

As you can see, the installation is very simple. All you need is a few tools and fixings.

Programming the automation

At the end of the installation, the motors will perform self-learning. This goes smoothly and quite quickly. The remote controls are pre-programmed. If you have purchased others, you will have to open the engine cover to connect the new remote control. We find this system average regarding security.

The characteristics

First of all, the difference between Evolvia 400 and Evolvia Star is simply a difference in the color of the motors. The Evolvia Star range is more modern and discreet. But technically the engines are identical.

Opening and closing

Here, Somfy is often faster than its competitors. Opening takes 8 seconds and up to 90°. It is possible to set closing in automatic mode and program partial opening.

The end stops are directly integrated into the motor. So, you just have to adjust them internally without having to install stops on the floor.

Safety

In the event of a power outage, you have two options. Use the battery backup to open your gate. This is the simplest option. But in the event that your automation fails, a special key is used to unlock the motors in order to operate the leaves manually.

To protect your loved ones and your animals, this kit is equipped with automatic obstacle detection. And to prevent movements of the gate, the flashing light alerts road users.

For added security, it is possible to connect timed lighting which turns on when the gate opens.

The portal

This kit is designed for two leaves weighing 200 kg each and measuring 2 meters long by 2 meters wide for a maximum opening of 120°.

The pillars must be at least 25 cm wide to accept the operators’ fixings.

Connected portal and home automation

The Evolvia Star motorization can be connected to the Somfy TaHoma box. It is thus possible to manage the gate automation with a smartphone.
